Word Explosions

Having an almost 2 year old is fun.
Especially now that he is repeating almost everything we say.

A couple of days ago, he picked up the word "Dumb".
It sounds really funny in his little voice.
"dum!"
Yesterday he called his Uncle Adam "Dum", and he wasn't being rude.

He'll say just about anything we say, and mimic our actions too.
The cutest thing he does right now is sing "do-do-do" (to High School Musical's tune), close his eyes, and wave his pointer fingers up and down in Saturday Night Live tradition.
He even squints his eyes shut.
Adorable.

Interesting that it doesn't stay so cute as they get older.
In fact, it becomes downright annoying to have your words repeated back to you.
"But you said...." is one of my least favorite phrases to hear.

I just need to watch my words...
So they don't come back and explode in my face.

It's hard with the youngest one learning to talk, and the older ones thinking it's fun to teach her naughty words. I finally had to yell at my kids for making Roz say "binky butt" the other day.

But it does sound funny, I will admit that. :)

I love it when the little ones learn cute phrases! :) I have to agree that you have to watch yourself extra when they're learning to talk! My son has learned a few of my bad habits...the rest came from his dad! :D

It is not the copying phase you have to worry about. Its that 3-5 year old phase where they know what they want to say but don't know how to say it. Just ask my wife about the time my older daughter told her Pre-K teacher and my wife that "Daddy taught me how to make LOVE!!!"... I had shown her how to say I love you in sign language!

TMM--We haven't quite reached the point where my older ones have decided to teach Bam-bam the not so nice things, but I know it's only a matter of a couple more months. They will think it is hilarious too....

Dawnyel--I'll chalk a few choice phrases up to my husband too! :)

Perry--I actually remember Jamie telling me about that one...YIKES! I tend to forget about that embarassing phase.
